2. BSEM networking event February 2016

Hypoglycaemia and SCFAs in weight and appetite regulation.

This spring we hosted an afternoon event on Friday 26 February in Central London, combining a couple of great lectures (CPD applied for) with a Members' Reception. We have gained a number of new members, associates and friends over the last couple of years and we were able to provide an opportunity for new and longer-standing members to meet after the event and network. This was very well received and we expect to offer more opportunities to network in the future. Our speakers were:Professor Gary Frost of Imperial College, speaking on short chain fatty acids, their biochemistry and their function, both within the gut and as a fuel, and Dr Abbi Lulsegged of King's College Hospital, speaking on hypoglycaemia from an endocrinologist's perspective, considering both the physiology of blood sugar control, factors contributingto hypoglycaemia and their management.
