This annual conference was hosted by The BSEM jointly with The Allergy Research Foundation at the Royal College of Physicians, Regents Parkm London on Friday 25th November.  The 6 CPD points were awarded by The Royal Society of Medicine and also The Naturopathic Nutrition Association.  This was the first conference hosted by BSEM that addressed the topic of oral health and the impact this has on overall health.  Keynote speakers included Professor Stephen Challacombe from Department of Oral Medicine, King’s College London, Guys Hospital, London SE1 9RT, Dr Francesco D'Aiuto - Reader/Honorary Consultant and Academic Head of the Periodontology Unit of the UCL Eastman Dental Institute in London, UK, Dr Jose Mendonça Caridad -  Director for the Head and Neck Surgery Unit, Adult Stem Cell THERAPY Unit at POLUSA Hospital in Spain.

2. Hypoglycaemia and SCFAs in weight and appetite regulation. BSEM networking event February 2016

This spring we hosted an afternoon event on Friday 26 February in Central London, combining a couple of great lectures (CPD applied for) with a Members' Reception. We have gained a number of new members, associates and friends over the last couple of years and we were able to provide an opportunity for new and longer-standing members to meet after the event and network. This was very well received and we expect to offer more opportunities to network in the future.

Our speakers were:

• Professor Gary Frost of Imperial College,
Speaking on short chain fatty acids, their biochemistry and their function, both within the gut and as a fuel, and
• Dr Abbi Lulsegged of King's College Hospital,
Speaking on hypoglycaemia from an endocrinologist's perspective, considering both the physiology of blood sugar control, factors contributing
   to  hypoglycaemia and their management.
